Case Study: BenJon Group Website Build
The owners of BenJon Group had been dreaming of a website for 5 years (when they registered their domain name!) but had just been too busy to put it on their to do list. I met Foong & Paul at a property developers catch up where I was inspired by their get up and go attitude when it came to property development. And their end result – beautifully designed & renovated homes around Adelaide that were solidly updated to last the next owners lifetime. So when it came to their website, they honestly weren’t too sure what they needed and didn’t have a vision for how it looked. They knew they wanted to showcase the properties they had renovated.
Project Objectives
- Client’s Challenges – having no website could be considered a challenge but really it allowed us to create a fresh start.
- Client’s Website Goals & Requirements – they knew they wanted to showcase their properties they had renovated, have a contact form & talk about their services. It was our goal to create a modern, mobile responsive website that would showcase their projects beautifully, outline their services & make contacting them easy.
Our Approach
- Initial Consultation & Planning – at our initial meeting we discussed in depth the detail of what they wanted on their website to establish a rough page/ site layout. From there we discussed the ways to promote their projects and how that could potentially be styled & what tools could be used (for example sliders to show before & after images- which is always inspiring for people to see on home renovations). We reviewed also the extent of detail we could use on each of their projects so potential clients could gauge an idea should they wish to work with them. As part of the project a photoshoot was offered so they had updated images of themselves on their website. This was booked in at one of their most recent property renovations completed to showcase them on a finished project.
- Design & Development Process – We designed the site map, colour chart & branding as this helps to establish the look & feel we are striving for across the website. Gathering project images from our client was important in the early stages as well to again allow integration around the site for a smooth look and feel. Due to their branding being outdated they agreed to a new brand that was then designed and approved. Their new branding was an improved modern, classy look reflective of their equally modern & classy renovation style they create consistently. We reviewed the tools to be used on the website and set about implementing them into the project as it unfolded to give them a seamless user experience.
Key Features & Design Elements
- Visual Design – We implemented a clean, professional design with a black and white colour theme that mirrored their renovation design style (heavy black and white colourings). Thus the property photos were beautiful and created a very sleek Home Magazine vibe.
- User Experience – Showing visitors their projects from drab to fab was a key part of the design process. Most people love to see how ugly a property was before it was renovated (and there were some serious ugly rooms!) but also as an inspiring part of the website to see what is possible with hard work & a vision. Property galleries were used for visitors to scroll through as well as a clear services page that outlines how they can help property investors & owners.
- Functionalities – Using sliders were key to showcasing before & after images and were used on several pages to encourage visitors to look around more. Easy to view galleries with details were used for SEO purposes & easy viewing. A contact form was set up to eliminate unnecessary spam to their email inbox. And a video was added to create interest around the property developers branding on the home page (it was added via a You Tube channel link to reduce download time & make for easy viewing).
SEO Performance Optimisation
SEO Strategies – Upon confirming our client’s key services we delved into the keyword research, looking at their competitors, words searched online, Google searches and other tools to maximise their SEO. Upon outlining their key words we were able to use a local business approach that would focus on key locations around Adelaide & their home suburb where their office was based. We also set up a Google Business Profile that truly established them as a ‘local business’ and in the eyes of Google, they were now real! This has helped their ranking considerably along with Google reviews they have since sought from clients.
Performance Enhancements – Utilising their project images with suburb tags and keywords in the alt-image text boxes has truly helped their SEO. Setting up their video as a link from YouTube has reduced their download time for their home page, as well as ensuring all images on the pages were optimised and reduced for quick viewing. Establishing their key services on their home page and footer has also assisted in their SEO result. By continuing to add further properties to their galleries & projects will drive their visitors experience (and SEO) further.
Launch & Post-Launch Support
Website Launch – after testing all pages, links, buttons & contact form the website was launched smoothly.
Ongoing Support & Maintenance – the client has chosen to have their website hosted with us and will continue to receive ongoing support with any updates & maintenance they require. Their website will be reviewed for security and update requirements ongoing. We have also set up their domain management for ease.
Results & Client Feedback
Achieved Outcomes – As the client did not have any website presence before their new site their growth has been slow to start with. However we are confident that over the next 6 months we will grow their results and traffic will increase.
Client Testimonial:
Conclusion
This project resulted in a successful transformation of their property renovation projects into a marketing vehicle that they could both attract potential new clients plus showcase their outstanding properties they have flipped. I met all of my clients goals on the build of their website and they are delighted at the outcome. We will continue to support BenJon Group with ongoing maintenance, hosting & SEO services.
